Find Your Spiritual Compass: Navigating Change Using Discernment – Featuring Tod Bolsinger

Are you completely satisfied with every aspect of your life? Most people dream about changing some aspect of their life, but we’re often held back by the fear and anxiety that come along with doing so. Change often marks the end of something, and so it brings feelings of loss and uncertainty about the future. Not to mention, living in a time of transition between the old and the new can be disorienting. So how do we keep our sense of stability and direction when the world seems to be shifting under our feet?

Today, I welcome Tod Bolsinger, author and experienced leader, to share his experience navigating through the unknown. He emphasizes the importance of discerning one’s mission, not being confined to tradition, and understanding that change is inherently accompanied by resistance and even sabotage. He offers valuable advice, urging leaders to form connections with others, embrace learning, and let go of what holds them back.

In today’s episode, you will learn:

  • How to discern God’s presence guiding your decision based on consolation and desolation.
  • How to be resilient in the face of resistance, understanding that it’s a natural human response to have fear and anxiety, not a reflection of evil intentions.
  • How finding and connecting with like-minded individuals on a similar journey is essential for support and growth.

My favorite quotes from Tod

“Leadership is not a function, is not a title. It’s a task. Leading is taking people through transformation, starting with your own.”

“Leading is paying attention to what are the things that, through the invitation of the Spirit, are truly ours to do in the world.”

I second Michelle’s comment! I wish there was a transcript because there were so many things I wanted to stop and take notes on as I was driving! I will just have to relisten with a pen and paper in hand. This was eye-opening and motivating. Thank you!

Wow!! Incredible! I listened to this on my walk and at one point was literally clapping. So much to digest here. Thank you for this conversation!
